Not sure on day 1 but that where I got FS22.

Somebody asked the same question about Sony, so I'll copy/paste my reply.

Imagine the fallout if FS25 was free to so many people at release. Their track record is not good when it comes to a playable game at release. They are going to want people who have paid the triple A price and feel obligated to report bugs rather than giving a bad review and abandoning the game.
Their history is to put it on gamepass at the end of its life when they are about to announce a new version.

I believe the OP was asking if it would be available on gamepass, not who would authorize it.

It's not just up to xbox. It would be a discussion between both parties and would depend on what payment xbox was offering.

But day one on Xbox, no, otherwise we should know about it already, as Microsoft always announce the new release on game pass.

From what I recall: FS 15 was taken off gamepass when FS 17 released, which was put on game pass on/near release, and that trend has continued with fS 19, and 22. IIRC, 22 was released on Game Pass day one.

In addition: Sony doesn't put many third party games on their subscription service, so the rules they follow don't mean anything for Gamepass

There are a number of games that hit gamepass Day one that were never announced for it. There are also other games that were announced for Xbox Gamepass that were never intended to be on console (like Ara: History untold)

That wasn't the case at all. FS22 released on gamepass in May 2022

FS17 arrived on gamepass in December 2019

FS19 was not on gamepass as of July 2021 and I don't believe FS15 was ever on gamepass

It would be great if we could get an official answer from Giants.

I am not planning on buying at release (MSFS 2024 releases next week and will eat up all my gaming time, so I'll wait for a discount) but it would be nice to do a bit of farmsim until then.

Gamepass isn't a free service, its a paid subscription. Giants and Microsoft would negotiate a payment per user who downloads the game. Obviously it won't be full price but most people who have gamepass won't buy a game so Giants won't be losing out as any player that downloads it and Giants get money for it is a bonus.
